- Get a full medical checkup: Getting a checkup will give you an idea of your health status. Will help you plan your fitness goal. You will be able to exercise effectively with the least amount of risk.
- Set a clear goal: If you don’t have a specific goal you won’t achieve much. It is a good idea to write something specific for example: “I want to lose 20 pounds in 6 months”. The goal must be realistic based on your lifestyle, how much time you can devote each day to workout. It’s best not to do too much in the beginning and then stop totally.
- Eat right: It is going to be impossible to achieve your goal if you don’t eat right. All the hard work you do in your exercise routine will not pay off. It is very de-motivating if you have just started on a fitness regime and don’t see results. Many people drop out because of this reason. It is also not advisable to go on a crash diet in hope of seeing instant results. it might help initially but cannot be sustained. It is the combination of healthy nutrition and exercise that will yield the greatest benefit, not exercise alone.
