Commitment is number one thing that i learnt from sonam, you can try all kinds of different diets, but the best part of sonam's plan is any body can do this and with ease.you dont have to deprive yourself of anything, in fact i am eating a lot more variety than before,make the right choices in eating and you can make it.and see instant results, i lost 4" of my waist line in about a month, with a combination of exercise and watching waht i put in my mouth, no keeping tab of calorie count,.its all about proportion. Sonam is the best health guru I have ever had… or hope to have!! She is really unique in her ability to understand fitness needs of different people mainly because she is not just a trainer. After 12 years in advertising she discovered her calling!!
The following credentials equip her to be that ONE person who can get you fit for life.
- She understands vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets, especially among Indians. You can take any daily diet to her, Indian or not and she can mentally calculate the carb, calories et al.!! She is Indian, Jain, vegetarian with a meat eating family.
- She has struggled with weight brought on by Thyroid (yup she has hypothyroid!). She was not always a trainer, did not always have such high fitness levels and has worked up to her present fitness level over time.
- As a woman she understands the stress on the body following childbirth and as a working mother, she understands what it is to juggle kids, job and exercise!
- She is VERY motivating... firstly because she has herself struggled with these issues and secondly she SO believes in you.
If she is your first trainer you will be so spoilt!! If you had other trainers before, you can really understand her great qualities. The “Aha” factors that made my sessions with Sonam enjoyable, effective & lifestyle changing:
- She spent time to understand my fitness goals, my body and my exercise/food habits and designed my program around it.
- She varied the routine every session so I never got bored. (V. Imp… believe me!)
- She planned the exercises based on what I COULD do, but got me to the next level so quickly even I was surprised.
- She does not demand immediate drastic changes; all she suggests is moderation in everything, including exercise and desserts!
- She really understands food and how it affects you. She can often figure out if there are certain things that don’t work for you.
- She gave me so many tips, small actions that give big results over time.

Sonam has been my personal trainer for the last one year and a good friend since the last eight years! She has always had a good influence on me and recently it has been focused on improving my health and energy levels -both of which have seen dramatic changes for the better since I started working out with her.
Her vast knowledge of exercises and fitness issues has made every session enjoyable and I really look forward to them. Time just flies during the workouts. I have been able to stick to my New year resolution of getting fit and healthy only because of her encouragement and the effort she puts in. Of course it helps when you drop two dress sizes and can climb up and down the stairs carrying your 3 year old daughter without huffing and puffing!

I met Sonam at a presentation she made for a big US company. The theme of the presentation - "reverse your age and double your energy" - was very intriguing and appealing to me. Indeed, I had just turned 40, and realized that my body wasn't reacting as in the past anymore; it was time for me to take care of it differently. I was very enthusiastic about Sonam's presentation: I liked her holistic approach, based on challenging yet achievable principles, and I was impressed by her energy level.
When I started my journey with Sonam 8 months ago, I had 3 objectives in mind. I made them all!
I had decided to run my first half-marathon in the next 4 months and thought it would be wiser to get advice from a coach. I made it and finished the race very fresh! I'm now training for my second half-marathon...
Stress was a big issue for me, it would make me very uncomfortable in a number of situations, and I wanted to fix that. The results are impressive, I feel unbelievably more relaxed in situations like job interviews where I know now what to do to control stress.
Last, I wanted to bring down my bad LDL-cholesterol level. I adapted my diet based on Sonam's advice, and it worked... my bad cholesterol is back to acceptable levels.
I'm now working on my new objective: shed off the pounds I have put on since I moved to the US. I've made significant progress already, and I'm on track to take off this last inch from my waist in the next 3 months.
I absolutely enjoy my sessions with Sonam, I always feel re-energized afterwards. There's a positive and fun atmosphere, a lot of variety in the workouts, while Sonam pushes you beyond your comfort zone with a big smile on her face. This comes with a new approach to eating habits and a lot of new good foods I discovered listening to Sonam.

I started training with Sonam from December 2008. I had moved to Cincinnati from Japan just three months before that, and the transition had taken its toll on me. My energy level had reduced considerably and I was not in my optimal physical and emotional state. My regular work outs were not helping me either - by evening time everyday, I would be totally exhausted and just wanted the day to get over! It was not exactly the best way to enjoy a new location and life and help the family transition. Within weeks of training with Sonam, I could feel the difference. My energy levels shot up and I was able to enjoy more time with my family every day. When I started with Sonam, like most women who start working out, I defined success as kilograms or pounds of weight lost. But I soon realized that my body was toning up all over and becoming far more flexible than it has ever been. I like Sonam's approach which I find is very holistic - she helped me understand and follow a diet regimen along with weight training that has produced results that I had not experienced with my earlier work out attempts. It was a paradigm shift for me - "its not about the pounds, it's about the inches you lose" as Sonam keeps reminding me! I feel that her training has helped my body become firmer, helped my metabolism and toned up muscles that has got me back in shape. Thanks Sonam!
